Privacy Policy
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how STARMAPLABS ("we") collects, uses, discloses, stores and protects information when you use Smart Printer (the "App" or "Service").
The App is an iOS mobile printing productivity tool distributed through the Apple App Store, with a minimum supported version of iOS 15. Unless explicitly stated otherwise within the App, the App does not require you to create an in-app account by default.
By using the App, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the App.
2. Who we are
The data controller or service provider for this App is STARMAPLABS. For contact details, please see the "Contact us" section at the end of this document.
3. Data processing overview
Based on the App's actual features and integrated SDKs, our data processing may include:
- No in-app account registration is required by default.
- Files, photos, scans, contact content, notes, print history and printer records you select are processed and stored only locally on your device, and are never uploaded to our servers.
4. Information we may process
4.4 Local app data and user-selected content
Depending on the App's features, you may create, import, save, edit, scan, print or process content within the App. Such content is stored only locally on your device and is never uploaded to our servers.
Local app data may include:
- PDF files, images, photos, scans, generated PDFs, text, email attachments and web print outputs you select or create;
- Contact names, phone numbers, email addresses and contact photo information processed when you choose to print contact content;
- App settings, language settings, onboarding state, cache data, temporary files, share-imported files and generated scan files;
- Print history, print task names, task identifiers, page count, status, recent printers, connected printer lists and saved printable files;
- Local printer information such as printer name, IP address, port, URL, protocol, brand, model, serial number, IPP attributes, Bonjour services and availability status.
Deleting the App, clearing storage, or where supported deleting in-app content may remove local app data.
4.5 Web printing and third-party web content
If you enter or open an HTTP or HTTPS webpage for printing, the App may load that webpage in a system WebView. The URL and webpage content are provided by the website you choose to visit and may be subject to that website's own terms and privacy policies.
5. Device permissions list
The App requests device permissions only when necessary to implement specific features.
5.1 Photos, media or photo library permission
Photo, media or photo library access permission is used to import or select images and photos you wish to print. We only access content you choose or the scope of permission you grant.
5.2 Files and documents permission
File or document access permission is used to import PDFs, images, TXT or other supported files, receive shared files, generate printable files and manage local print records.
5.3 Camera permission
Camera permission is used for document scanning and photographing paper documents to generate printable images or PDF files.
5.4 Contacts permission
Contacts permission is used when you choose to generate printable contact content. The App may process contact names, phone numbers, email addresses and contact photo information required for that feature.
5.5 Local network and nearby Wi-Fi devices
Local network, Bonjour, multicast and nearby Wi-Fi device access permissions may be used to discover or connect to printers on the same local network, read printer attributes, and send print jobs to compatible printers.
5.6 Network access
Network access may be used for App Store links, legal page display, web printing, IPP/local printer communication and customer support.
5.8 Permission management
You can manage or revoke permissions through device settings. Closing necessary permissions may cause certain features to not work properly.
6. Third-party SDKs and service providers
We may use service providers to operate, protect, improve and support the App. Based on current product analysis, related services may include:
- Printing and file processing libraries (printing, file_picker, image_picker, VisionKit, flutter_contacts, WebView, url_launcher, etc.): for local printing, scanning, contacts, documents, web pages and sharing flows.
7. How we use information
Based on the App's features and SDKs, we may use information for the following purposes:
- To provide, operate, maintain and improve printing, scanning, file import, contact printing, text printing, web printing, printer discovery and print history features;
- To operate local network printer discovery, IPP or system printing capabilities;
- To comply with legal obligations, platform rules and enforce our terms.
9. How we share information
We share information only in the following circumstances:
- Printing and system services: content you select may be provided to system printing services, local printers, share targets, mail apps, WebView or other services you choose to use.
11. Data retention period
Unless a longer retention period is required or permitted by law, we retain information only for the period reasonably necessary to achieve the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.
Retention periods may vary by data type:
- Local app data is retained on your device until you delete it, clear app data, or uninstall the App;
- Imported files, scans, generated PDFs, print history and recent printer records may be retained in local storage or cache until deleted or cleaned;
12. Security measures
We adopt reasonable technical, managerial and organizational measures to protect information. However, no transmission or storage method can be guaranteed to be absolutely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
You are also responsible for protecting your device, OS, App Store account, local files, printer network and device backup security.
13. Your choices and controls
Depending on your device, platform, region and app features, you may have the following choices:
- Manage or revoke app permissions in device settings;
- Do not use optional features that require camera, photo library, files, contacts, local network, web loading;
- Delete local content within the app, clear app data through the OS where supported, or uninstall the App to delete local data;
- To the extent permitted by applicable law, contact us to request access, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, objection to processing, data portability, or exercise other privacy rights.
